Encryption technology

Encryption is the encoding of data with some form of mathematical function using a password, normally called a key. Decryption is the opposite. These techniques can be used to protect backup's and emails, amongst other things. Encryption can involve the study of very advanced mathematics but to use it is usually relatively simple.
